The DFG-Graduiertenkolleg 2073 (Research Training Group 2073) “Integrating Ethics and Epistemology of Scientific Research” focused on innovative research in the areas of philosophy of science and ethics of science. The joint programme combined the strengths of the universities of Hannover and Bielefeld and offered unique opportunities to early-career researchers. It was funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). In total, there were 38 PhD candidates, including the associated PhD candidates, and 5 postdocs at GRK 2073, of which 23 PhD candidates and 3 postdocs were located at the Institute of Philosophy of Leibniz University.
The programme aimed at overcoming the divide between theoretical philosophy (epistemology and metaphysics) and practical philosophy (ethics and political philosophy) of science by focussing on research questions that require serious attention to both areas. The members of GRK 2073 have drawn on the resources of theoretical and practical philosophy, taking both equally seriously.
The Research Training Group 2073 ended on September 30, 2024 after nine years of funding.
