M.A. Philosophy of Science

This course of study aims to provide a comprehensive, research-oriented philosophical education. A particular focus is placed upon fundamental theoretical and practical questions concerning the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Their epistemic and normative structure are interrogated, as well as their social context and meaning.

This programme offers the opportunity to delve into these philosophical questions in depth, and to be introduced to new areas of inquiry, particularly in the philosophy and ethics of science, but also in the philosophy of logic, social philosophy, action theory, and philosophy of mind, among others.

Admission is open both to those who have studied philosophy before, and to graduates from other fields with a interest in philosophy of science.

The entire programme can be taken in English, and there is also the opportunity, if desired, to take further philosophy courses in German.
